Product Specific Information
This antibody detects 70 kDa proteins corresponding to the molecular mass of SK2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human recombinant SK2 and endogenous SK2 in HeLa cells.
It is also suitable for ELISA, immunoprecipitation, and immunocytochemistry applications.
Target Information
SPHK2, along with SPHK1, catalyzes the phosphorylation of sphingosine to produce sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), a key signaling molecule.
S1P acts through G-protein coupled receptors to regulate diverse cellular processes such as differentiation, calcium mobilization, and apoptosis.
SPHK2 plays important roles in cell motility, survival, migration, cardiogenesis, vascular maturation, and immune cell trafficking.
S1P levels are regulated by the activity of Sphk1 and Sphk2.
