B7-H4는 T 세포 매개 면역 반응의 음성 조절자로 작용하는 공자극 단백질입니다. 미확인 수용체와 결합하며, T 세포의 증식, 세포 주기 진행 및 IL-2 생산을 억제하는 신호를 전달하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. B7-H4 결핍 마우스는 경미한 영향을 받으며, 이는 B7-H4가 T 세포 매개 면역 반응의 미세 조정에 중요함을 시사합니다.
B7-H4는 활성화된 T 세포, B 세포, 단핵세포 및 수지상세포에서 발현되며, 인간의 폐, 유방 및 난소암과 관련된 비정상적 발현이 보고되었습니다. 림프구 세포막에 주로 존재하며, 면역억제 단백질로서 T 림프구 표면 수용체와 상호작용하여 세포성 및 체액성 면역 반응 조절에 관여합니다.
B7-H4의 과발현은 난소암 및 유방암 등 특정 악성종양에서 T 세포 면역 억제를 유도하고 종양 진행을 촉진할 수 있습니다. 또한 VTCN1은 난소암 및 신세포암(RCC)의 조기 진단 바이오마커로 활용될 가능성이 있습니다.
