Target Information
The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a protein assembly at the nuclear rim that mediates macromolecular transport between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Mammalian nucleoporin NUP107 is part of a hetero-oligomeric complex with NUP160, NUP133, NUP96, and sec13p.
A fraction of NUP107-160 complex localizes to kinetochores and spindle poles during mitosis, interacting with proteins such as Mad1, Mad2, Bub3, and Cdc20. Immunodepletion of this complex results in defective spindle assembly, indicating multiple functions.
NUP107 has been identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting its potential as a drug target in HIV treatment. Multiple isoforms of NUP107 are known.
