Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They are composed of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies. These antibodies provide consistent performance across lots due to their defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

IL-21 is a 17 kDa immunomodulatory cytokine mainly produced by Natural Killer T (NKT) cells, T helper (Th17), and T follicular helper (TFH) cells. In TFH cells, IL-21 drives autocrine signaling through IL-21R and STAT3, activating Bcl6 transcription. It is essential for TFH cell development and effector function, facilitating B cell differentiation into plasma and memory cells, stimulating IgG production, and inducing apoptosis in naive B cells. In Th17 cells, IL-21 enhances IL-23R expression and mediates downregulation of Foxp3, contributing to inflammatory responses. IL-21 deficiency protects mice from chemically induced colitis, whereas elevated IL-21 levels are observed in colitis models.
