이 단백질들은 반복 서열의 수, 전체 서열 유사성, 그리고 반복 서열의 분포에 따라 하위 패밀리로 나뉩니다.
p120(ctn)/plakophilin 하위 패밀리에는 CTNND1, Catenin delta-2, PKP1, PKP2, PKP4, ARVCF 등이 포함되며, 각각 10개의 armadillo 반복을 가지고 있습니다 (Bonne et al., 1998 [PubMed 9721216]).
