Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human TGF-alpha. Anti-Human TGF-alpha-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human TGF-alpha matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL is required. In conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human TGF-alpha (500-P16Bt), it enables detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human TGF-alpha.

Western Blot:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. With compatible secondary reagents, detection limit for Recombinant Human TGF-alpha is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells. TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) has 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing reversible transformed phenotypes.
