Product Specific Information

The SJ25C1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by B cells throughout development except in terminally differentiated plasma cells. Follicular dendritic cells also express CD19. CD19 forms a complex with CD21, CD81, Leu13, and MHC class II associated with the BCR, mediating signaling that induces tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and B-cell proliferation.

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains, expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells. It may also appear on certain myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 is a key B-cell–restricted antigen and a functional regulator of normal and malignant B-cell proliferation. It lowers the activation threshold for antigen receptor–dependent stimulation and serves as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B-cell receptor (BCR). Mutations in CD19 cause hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression leads to B-cell hyperactivity.
