Specificity: Recognizes rat CD28 and can trigger T-cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo.

Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein. It belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes. CD28 serves as a critical co-stimulatory receptor that provides the second activation signal for T cells by binding to CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells. It prevents T cells from entering an anergic or apoptotic state. In mice, CD28 is expressed on all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in peripheral lymphoid organs and blood, with higher expression on immature thymocytes. CD28 dysfunction has been associated with mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
