Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) are mitogenic, polypeptide growth factors that promote proliferation and survival of various cell types, including muscle, bone, and cartilage tissue in vitro. IGFs are mainly produced by the liver, though many tissues produce IGFs at specific developmental stages. Belonging to the insulin gene family, IGFs share structural and functional similarities with insulin but exhibit stronger growth-promoting activity. IGF-II expression is influenced by placental lactogen, while IGF-I is regulated by growth hormone. Both IGF-I and IGF-II signal through the tyrosine kinase type I receptor (IGF-IR), with IGF-II also signaling through the IGF-II/Mannose-6-phosphate receptor. Mature IGFs are generated by proteolytic processing of inactive precursor proteins containing N- and C-terminal propeptides.
