Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Heme oxygenase (HO) is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of heme to biliverdin and carbon monoxide, both of which have antioxidant properties. HO consists of two isozymes: the inducible HO-1 and the constitutively expressed HO-2. HO-1 expression is upregulated by oxidative stress, inflammatory stimuli, transforming growth factor beta, and heat shock. The increased expression of HO-1 is believed to serve as a cellular defense mechanism against oxidative stress.
