The RNF40 protein contains a RING finger motif involved in protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. It interacts with tumor suppressor protein RB1 and may function as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, facilitating ubiquitination and degradation of syntaxin 1, a key component in neurotransmitter release.
