Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates numerous cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, and mitotic cycle. It contains two tandem Src homology-2 domains that mediate phospho-tyrosine binding and substrate interactions. SHP2 is widely expressed and plays a key role in cell signaling related to mitogenic activation, metabolism, transcription, and migration. Mutations in this gene are associated with Noonan syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
