Target Information
Inward rectifier potassium channels allow potassium ions to flow more easily into the cell than out. Their voltage dependence is regulated by extracellular potassium concentration; as external potassium increases, the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. Inward rectification primarily results from internal magnesium blocking outward current.
