Target Information
NCSTN (Nicastrin) 유전자는 type I 막관통 당단백질을 암호화하며, γ-secretase 복합체의 주요 구성 요소입니다.
이 단백질은 Notch 수용체 및 β-amyloid 전구체 단백질(APP)을 절단하며, γ-secretase 복합체의 안정화에 관여할 수 있습니다.
β-amyloid 전구체 단백질의 절단으로 생성되는 amyloid β peptide는 알츠하이머병의 주요 병리적 특징인 신경반(neuritic plaque)의 주성분입니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 가족성 여드름 역전증(familial acne inversa)과 관련이 있습니다.
또한 이 유전자의 유사유전자가 염색체 21번에 존재합니다.
