This antibody detects endogenous levels of Estrogen Receptor alpha only when phosphorylated at Serine 167.

Target Information

Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. The estrogen receptor acts as a ligand-activated transcription factor that, upon estrogen binding, undergoes conformational change enabling dimerization and binding to estrogen response elements (ERE) in DNA. ER regulates gene transcription positively or negatively through coactivator or corepressor recruitment.

Two distinct forms exist—ER alpha and ER beta—encoded by ESR1 and ESR2 genes. Alternative RNA splicing produces at least four ER-alpha isoforms (66 kDa, 53 kDa, 47 kDa, 35 kDa). Estrogen receptors are widely expressed across tissues, playing crucial roles in sexual development, reproduction, bone metabolism, and pathological processes such as breast and endometrial cancers, and osteoporosis.
