V5 epitope tag (Gly-Lys-Pro-Ile-Pro-Asn-Pro-Leu-Leu-Gly-Leu-Asp-Ser-Thr)는 목표 단백질의 N- 또는 C-말단에 융합되어 트랜스펙션 또는 트랜스포메이션된 세포에서 검출 가능합니다.

Epitope tag는 다양한 세포 유형에서 유전자 산물의 위치를 확인하고, 단백질 및 단백질 복합체의 구조를 연구하며, 관련 단백질을 식별하고, 낮은 발현량 또는 면역원성이 낮은 단백질을 특이 항체 없이 특성화하는 데 사용됩니다.
V5 epitope tag는 simian virus 5 (SV5)의 P 및 V 단백질에 존재하는 작은 epitope(Pk)에서 유래합니다. 일반적으로 14개의 아미노산(GKPIPNPLLGLDST)을 사용하지만, 9개 아미노산(IPNPLLGLD)으로도 활용됩니다.
