Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human ASAP1 protein. A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity to human (100%), bovine (93%), and rat/mouse (87%) homology for the immunogen sequence. Cross-reactivity from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
ASAP1 (Development and differentiation enhancing factor 1) is a protein containing two ANK repeats, an Arf-GAP domain, a PH domain, and a SH3 domain. It is a homodimer known to interact with SRC and CRK, and its activity is stimulated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2).
ASAP1 possesses PIP2-dependent GTPase-activating protein activity for ARF1 and ARF5, and lesser activity toward ARF6. It may coordinate membrane trafficking with cell growth or actin cytoskeleton remodeling by binding to both SRC and PIP2.
ASAP1 functions as a signal transduction protein involved in fibroblast differentiation into adipocytes and possibly other cell types. It is widely expressed in most tissues and is identified as a proto-oncogene involved in invasive breast cancer and other malignant tumors such as uveal melanomas.
