This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human MUC4 protein.
A BLAST analysis indicates 100% sequence homology with human MUC4 immunogen.
Cross-reactivity with MUC4 from other species is not known.

Target Information

Mucin transmembrane glycoproteins protect nearly all mucosal surfaces, including bronchioles, corneas, and reproductive tracts. Mucin 4 (MUC4) is membrane-bound and plays a critical role in protection and lubrication.
Abnormal MUC4 expression is associated with various carcinomas and sarcomas, such as fibromyoxoid sarcoma and pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Immunohistochemical staining for MUC4 has been proposed as a biomarker for cancer detection.
MUC4 dysfunction has also been linked to certain Asian-specific diseases, including Taiwanese infertility, endometriosis, and gallstone formation in Chinese men.
Given its key role in mucosal surface protection, MUC4 is often implicated in metastatic cancer invasion.
