Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) comprises neurologic proteins essential for growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 has relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP members. It is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated levels of anti-CRMP5 autoantibody are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes.
Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (mainly N-terminal epitopes) is studied as a potential oncological marker in respiratory and thymic tissues.
