Target Information

The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family, also known as ULIP6, consists of neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development. CRMP5 shows relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members. It is expressed in the developing nervous system with peak expression during the first postnatal week. Elevated levels of CRMP5 autoantibody are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes. Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (mainly N-terminal epitopes) is also under investigation as a potential oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
