Target Information
PSAP is a highly conserved glycoprotein and a precursor for four cleavage products: saposins A, B, C, and D. Each domain of the precursor protein contains approximately 80 amino acid residues with nearly identical cysteine residue placement and glycosylation sites. Saposins A–D localize mainly to the lysosomal compartment, facilitating the catabolism of glycosphingolipids with short oligosaccharide groups. The precursor protein functions as both a secretory and integral membrane protein and exhibits neurotrophic activity.
