Target Information
The Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are a family of intracellular regulators that modulate immune cell responses to cytokines. SOCS1 suppresses dendritic cell and T cell hyperactivation by inhibiting JAK tyrosine kinase, which is essential for cytokine receptor signaling. It also exhibits E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, leading to polyubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Through these mechanisms, SOCS1 negatively regulates Toll-like receptor signaling (TLR2 and TLR4) by mediating degradation of the adaptor protein TIRAP.
