Target Information
Sorbitol dehydrogenase catalyzes the interconversion of polyols and their corresponding ketoses. Together with aldose reductase, it mediates the reduction of glucose to sorbitol by ALDR1 with NADPH as a cofactor. SORD then oxidizes sorbitol to fructose using NAD as a cofactor.
