Target Information

TRIM71 is the mammalian ortholog to the C. elegans heterochronic protein Lin41, a protein important in postembryonic development, and functions downstream of both Shh and Fgf signaling pathways.
Similar to its C. elegans homolog, TRIM71 is a target of the microRNA let-7 and likely plays a role in mammalian development.
Recent studies indicate that TRIM71 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase and interacts with Dicer and Argonaute proteins (Ago1, Ago2, Ago4). Overexpression or depletion of TRIM71 alters Ago2 protein levels, suggesting regulation of Ago2 turnover.
TRIM71 also cooperates with the pluripotency factor Lin-28 in regulating let-7.
