Product Specific Information
MA1-40274 detects CHIPS from Staphylococcus aureus samples.
It has been successfully used in flow cytometry, ELISA, immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin), and Western blot applications.
The immunogen used is the N-terminus of CHIPS.
Target Information
Staphylococcus aureus is resistant to antimicrobial host defense peptides such as defensins, protegrins, platelet microbicidal proteins, and bacteriocins.
Resistance mechanisms include CHIPS (Chemotaxis Inhibiting Protein of Staphylococcus aureus), which inhibits neutrophil chemotaxis by blocking the Formyl Peptide Receptor (FPR) and C5a Receptor.
CHIPS and its antibodies are useful in experimental infection models and studies of FPR and C5a in inflammatory processes.
