The predicted molecular weight (MW) of CEA is approximately 77 kDa. By Western blot, MA5-14675 detects CEA with varying degrees of glycosylation, ranging from ~77–180 kDa.
Product MA5-14675 is a smaller package size of MIC0102 (formerly sold as a Seradyn product).
Target Information
Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal development in the gut and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors.
CEA belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family and contains one N domain and six constant-like domains (A1–A3, B1–B3).
Antibodies against CEA are useful for identifying the origin of metastatic adenocarcinomas and distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (typically CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely CEA+).
CEA functions as a cell adhesion molecule and plays roles in tissue organization, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
