Product Specific Information
- MA5-14672 targets Alkaline Phosphatase in ELISA, IP, and RIA applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
- The immunogen is purified human placenta ALP.
- Detects Alkaline Phosphatase with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 59 kDa.
- Product MA514672 is a smaller package size of MIA1802 (formerly sold as a Seradyn product).
Target Information
Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP) plays an important role in regulating inflammatory disease processes.
There are four distinct but related alkaline phosphatases: intestinal, placental, placental-like, and liver/bone/kidney types.
PLAP reacts with the membrane-bound isoenzyme (Regan and Nagao types) occurring in the placenta during the third trimester of gestation.
It is useful for identifying testicular germ cell tumors.
PLAP-positive somatic cell tumors uniformly express epithelial membrane antigen (EMA).
Although proposed to function in matrix mineralization, mice lacking this enzyme show normal skeletal development.
PLAP has been linked to hypophosphatasia, a disorder characterized by hypercalcemia and skeletal defects, with variation depending on mutation type.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
