Product Specific Information
Rabbits were immunized with 6-His (HHHHHH) conjugated to KLH. Antibody was isolated by affinity chromatography using the peptide immobilized on solid support.
This antibody does not detect all N-terminal 6-His tagged proteins.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed as a tag at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to allow isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography.
Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins for which no antibody is available.
His-tagged proteins are purified via metal chelate chromatography due to the strong and selective affinity of histidine clusters for Ni²⁺ ions.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
