mCherry는 생명공학에서 추적자(tracer)로 사용되는 형광 단백질로, 분자나 세포 구성 요소에 태그(tag)되어 유동을 추적하는 데 활용됩니다. 단량체(monomeric) 형광 단백질로서 587 nm에서 흡수하고 610 nm에서 방출하며, 광표백(photobleaching)에 강하고 안정적입니다. 빠른 성숙 속도(t₀.₅ = 15분)를 가져 번역 직후 시각화가 가능합니다.
