Target Information
CD151 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanins).
These cell-surface proteins contain four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction events related to cell development, activation, growth, and motility.
CD151 forms complexes with integrins and other tetraspanins, influencing cell adhesion, integrin trafficking, and function.
It plays a role in enhancing cell motility, invasion, and metastasis of cancer cells.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.
