Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Aurora B (AurB) only when phosphorylated at Threonine 232.
Target Information
Aurora kinases associate with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. AURKB (Aurora B) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to specialized microtubules called K-fibers. This complex functions in chromosome alignment and separation, histone modification, and cytokinesis.
The chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) includes Aurora B along with inner centromere protein (INCENP), survivin, and borealin, which regulate the activity, localization, and stability of Aurora B. Two CPC forms exist during mitosis: a quaternary complex (INCENP, survivin, borealin, AurB) functioning in chromosome alignment and cytokinesis, and a binary INCENP–AurB complex involved in histone H3 modification.
AurB is overexpressed in several tumors, including primary breast and colon cancers, and its expression appears correlated with Aurora-A kinase, suggesting a feedback mechanism between these proteins.
