Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (α1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and functions as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin, which are released during inflammatory reactions in the lung.
Deficiency of α1-AT leads to unregulated protease activity, resulting in pulmonary tissue damage. Alpha-1-AT deficiency is associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema) and, less commonly, hepatic cirrhosis in infants and neonatal respiratory distress.
Elevated α1-AT levels are observed as an acute phase response in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
