Target Information
HDAC2 belongs to the histone deacetylase family. These enzymes form large multiprotein complexes responsible for deacetylation of lysine residues in the N-terminal regions of core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4).
HDAC2 forms transcriptional repressor complexes with various proteins, including YY1, a zinc-finger transcription factor. It plays key roles in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and developmental events.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
