Product Specific Information

  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Napsin 1 is an aspartic protease generally expressed in the lung and kidney, and also present in metastatic carcinomas. It processes surfactant protein B in healthy pulmonary and renal tissues but is abnormally regulated during carcinogenesis. Napsin evaluation is useful for identifying various cancers and differentiating primary tumors from metastases. When combined with thyroid transcription factor analysis, Napsin can serve as a specific biomarker for carcinoma type differentiation. It has also been associated with pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and protein catabolism in renal tubules.
