Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Human cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20, and their expression patterns are characteristic of epithelial type and differentiation stage.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are widely used in distinguishing different epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis using immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometric assays.
