Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes and is essential for proper muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner, and expression levels are affected by heart failure. Mutations in this protein are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing tissue-specific isoforms.
