  • Predicted to react with chicken, dog, human, and mouse based on sequence homology.
  • For detection of phosphoproteins, add serine phosphatase inhibitors (e.g., 10 mM NaF) to the sample buffer.
  • Avoid milk or casein-based blocking solutions, as casein is a phosphoprotein and may cause high background.
  • Detects a ~100 kDa band in rat brain lysates.
  • Recognizes glutamate receptor 1 (GluR1), also known as AMPA-selective glutamate receptor 1, GluR-A, GluR-K1, and GluA1, when phosphorylated at serine 831.

Target Information

GluR1 (glutamate receptor 1) is an ionotropic glutamate receptor. L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of L-glutamate induces a conformational change that opens the cation channel, converting a chemical signal into an electrical impulse. The receptor rapidly desensitizes into a transient inactive state characterized by a bound agonist. In the presence of CACNG4, CACNG7, or CACNG8, GluR1 shows resensitization, characterized by delayed accumulation of current flux upon continued glutamate application.
