Target Information
Gemin 3 is a member of the DEAD box protein family characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) and are putative RNA helicases. These proteins are involved in various RNA-related processes such as translation initiation, splicing, and ribosome assembly.
Gemin 3 is part of the survival of motor neurons (SMN) complex and may play a catalytic role in RNP function.
Dysfunction of Gemin 3 is associated with spinal muscular dystrophy and muscular atrophy.
