Target Information

STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3) is a transcription factor phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases. Upon activation, STAT3 translocates to the nucleus and regulates gene expression in response to cytokines and growth factors such as Interferon-α, Interferon-γ, EGF, PDGF, and IL6.
Phosphorylation at Tyr705 by JAK1 and JAK2 is essential for dimer formation, nuclear translocation, and DNA binding. STAT3 plays a critical role in cell growth, apoptosis, and immune response regulation. The STAT3 gene is located on chromosome 17q in humans, and multiple splice variants exist.
