Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. It plays a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, leading to activation of procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3, a key effector of apoptosis.
