Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron-transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. It plays a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, triggering activation of procaspase-9 and subsequently caspase-3, a key effector in apoptosis.
