Target Information
AXIN1 is a cytoplasmic protein containing a regulation of G-protein signaling (RGS) domain and a disheveled and axin (DIX) domain. It functions as a negative regulator of the WNT signaling pathway that controls embryonic axis formation. AXIN1 interacts with APC, beta-catenin, and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta, forming a complex that regulates beta-catenin stabilization. Mutations in AXIN1 are associated with various carcinomas, suggesting a tumor suppressor role.
