Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes CLIC5a, a 32 kDa intracellular protein that associates with actin complex proteins. Cross-reactivity with CLIC5b has not been determined.
Target Information
CLIC5 encodes a protein essential for normal hearing and the formation of stereocilia in the inner ear. It can insert into membranes to form ion channels, possibly transporting chloride ions. CLIC5 plays roles in transepithelial ion regulation, glomerular endothelial and podocyte architecture maintenance, and actin-based cytoskeletal structure association. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
Diseases associated with CLIC5 include Deafness, Autosomal Recessive 103 and Autosomal Recessive Non-Syndromic Sensorineural Deafness Type DFNB.
