This antibody recognizes CLIC5a, a 32 kDa intracellular protein associated with actin complexes. Cross-reactivity with CLIC5b has not been determined.
Target Information
CLIC5 encodes a protein required for normal hearing and the formation of stereocilia in the inner ear. It can insert into membranes to form ion channels that may transport chloride ions.
CLIC5 plays a role in transepithelial ion absorption, secretion, and maintenance of glomerular endothelial and podocyte architecture.
It belongs to the chloride intracellular channel (CLIC) family and associates with actin-based cytoskeletal structures.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
Diseases associated with CLIC5 include Deafness, Autosomal Recessive 103 and Autosomal Recessive Non-Syndromic Sensorineural Deafness Type DFNB.
