Target Information
LKB1 (also known as STK11, Serine/threonine-protein kinase STK11) is a tumor suppressor belonging to the serine/threonine kinase family.
It physically associates with p53 and regulates specific p53-dependent apoptosis pathways.
LKB1 is localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, and translocates to mitochondria during apoptosis.
It acts as a master upstream kinase regulating AMPK and AMPK-related kinases.
Mutations in the LKB1 gene are associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
