Target Information
CSNK2A1 (Casein Kinase II alpha) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates acidic proteins. The enzyme forms a tetramer composed of an alpha, an alpha-prime, and two beta subunits. The alpha subunits provide catalytic activity, while the beta subunits undergo autophosphorylation.
CK2 alpha-1 is encoded on chromosome 20, with a related pseudogene on chromosome 11. Three transcript variants encoding two different proteins have been identified for CK2 alpha-1.
