Immunogen Clone M534 was generated from a neuropilin-1 synthetic peptide (coupled to carrier protein) corresponding to amino acids within the a1 CUB domain of human neuropilin-1. This sequence is highly conserved in rat and mouse neuropilin-1, and has low homology to neuropilin-2.

Product Specific Information

The antibody detects a 130 kDa* protein corresponding to the apparent molecular mass of neuropilin-1 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human recombinant neuropilin-1 and in human PC3 cells.

Target Information

Neuropilin 1 is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family, containing two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain.
It forms a heterodimer with NRP2 (Neuropilin 2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors.
Predominantly expressed in the nervous system, Neuropilin 1 is involved in:

  • Cardiovascular system development
  • Angiogenesis
  • Axon guidance and neuronal circuit formation
  • Cell survival and migration
  • Organogenesis outside the nervous system

This receptor functions as a receptor for semaphorins and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and regulates VEGF-induced angiogenesis.
Neuropilin 1 may also be implicated in aggressive prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
