G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs), also known as seven transmembrane receptors or 7TM receptors, comprise a superfamily of proteins that play a role in many different stimulus-response pathways. These receptors translate extracellular signals into intracellular signals through G protein activation and respond to hormones and neurotransmitters.
GPR176 (G protein-coupled receptor 176), also known as HB-954, GPR, or Gm1012, is a 515 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. It is expressed in brain and spleen, with trace expression in kidney, and functions as an orphan receptor involved in cellular signaling. GPR176 contains four N-glycosylation sites, seven transmembrane domains, and a large C-terminal cytosolic domain. The gene encoding GPR176 maps to human chromosome 15q14.
