Specificity: Recognizes a non-polymorphic epitope on the mouse CD8 alpha chain.
This antibody has been reported to block MHC I-dependent T cell responses in vitro and in vivo.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in signal transduction and T cell differentiation and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC-I molecules.
CD8α chain is essential for MHC-I binding and is also expressed on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Ligation of MHC-I/peptide complexes by APCs recruits Lck, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and CTL activation.
Activated CTLs play a critical role in pathogen and tumor cell clearance.
Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
