Target Information
eIF3H is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, essential for multiple steps in protein synthesis initiation. The eIF-3 complex associates with the 40S ribosomal subunit and facilitates recruitment of eIF-1, eIF-1A, eIF-2:GTP:methionyl-tRNAi, and eIF-5 to form the 43S pre-initiation complex (43S PIC). It promotes mRNA recruitment, scanning for AUG recognition, and participates in ribosomal recycling and prevention of premature subunit joining. eIF3H selectively regulates translation of mRNAs involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis through RNA stem-loop binding mechanisms.
